I am sure that it is hard for you all to believe but we have been a little short on time lately (not to mention sleep)! So I will have to squish two major life events into one very short post. Here goes... I can't begin to tell you how intimidated I was about life six weeks ago. We had a baby on the way and neither of us had ever changed a diaper. That is big enough if you ask me. But we were also planning on trekking halfway across the country with that newborn just two short weeks later, in a car that has been acting up, to Mission Aviation Fellowship headquarters in Idaho where we would start our five week 8-5 training for our next stage in life. This is one of those 'God has a sense of humor' situations. I was going to go ahead and put it in the not-gonna-happen, can we scrap this whole plan and rewind nine months category. On top of it all Jack was a week late causing more anxiety for me with the day. Even so, many of you already know how this ends. God has this tendency to provide for us in huge ways when we obediently step out in faith! In fact he seems to particularly enjoy reminding us that we cannot do this whole life thing without him and that he delights to richly bless his children when they ask. As it turns out, Jackson James was born on 6/18, a happy healthy little chunker. I won't lie to you and say it has not been hard, but he has been the best baby we could have asked for. His happy little self (and our seventeen year old car too) even made it through our three day cross country adventure without any of us being worse for the wear. A big thanks to my mom for flying out to spend the first week here with us as we got our feet on the ground with this more-than-a-little- busy training program and to the MAF staff who have been so gracious providing child care and allowing me to leave class regularly to take care of him. I can truly say that, even though we are currently in a state of altered consciousness for lack of sleep, we have been given peace that passes understanding and the grace to make it through each day (with only a few minor meltdowns along the way). Next up, what country will our little guy grow up in?! Stay tuned.
