(P)Hello again friends. I hope you are enjoying the thaw as much as I am!
With the changing of the seasons and the earth beginning to awake from a long winter, Alex and I find ourselves preparing for a new season in life as well. That’s right fellow Iowans, we are moving home! After much prayer, many discussions, and a meeting with the Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF) recruiter, we have decided not to pursue the certified flight instructor program. This means that we will be heading back to Iowa around mid July. We are pretty excited to find ourselves nearer to family for a while and in a place where the grass is literally greener. (I can’t say I was too homesick during this past winter though!) We are also excited to dive back into the churches that we have called family since before we can remember. And let’s be honest, we are both ecstatic to be done with Alex working on school an average of fifteen hours per day. While I am sitting here practically drooling over our future plans, I think I should take a minute to be grateful (and maybe a bit sentimental) for what we have been blessed with in this season. I am particularly grateful for the community we have grown into at Moody over the past year or so. During that time we have spent time in the homes of at least six of the Aviation instructors as well as most of his classmates. I could not tell you how many times I have come home from work to find people in my living room (most recently when Alex wasn't even there)! I use this as a poor example of how hugely supportive the instructors, their families, and fellow students have been (and hopefully we have been a fraction of that in return), how close the class has become through long hours together, and how much we will miss them. So here is the plan. We have incurred a bit of debt this semester, so we will need to take some time to pay as much of that off as we can. We are currently pursuing MAF as a sending organization. The application process for MAF takes about a year, so we would like to begin working on that sooner rather than later. During that time I will need to take a few Bible classes as well. How you can pray. · Using our time left in Spokane well. In addition to Alex’s studies, we have lots of people to see and things to do before we move away for good. We would like to use this time to be a blessing to others, rather than mentally checking out early. · Alex will need to find a job. Realistically this will likely be an aircraft maintenance job; however a flight job would be amazing. We would also like it to be as close to the Iowa City area as possible. · Work for me. This is pretty much an open ended request at this point; I have no particular aspirations for a job except what God has planned for me. · Although in some ways we are moving home, in others it is more like we are starting over in a new place. So, I guess we would love prayer for the “other stuff” such as housing, getting plugged into community, and figuring out what life should look like.
